Today is the day!
MLab lecture begins for two days.
Suzette getting prepared for an awesome material lecture.

Suzette prepared a small box for the lecture and each team got a box. Inside the box, there were
5 materials from various industries: transportation, medical, footwear, equipment, fashion, and chemical.
We had an engaging talk about the materials and color that were in the box.
she gave some inspirational suggestion of materials that can be used in the project.
One of Suzette's quote, "What is the material and what do you want it to do?"

She points out the importance of thinking about the user when designing the shoes.
Despite learning about materials, Suzette also teaches the students to be
professional, respectful, and authentic.

She encourages students to always work with a calendar and be in control of their time.
“Run the process, don’t let the process run you.” - Suzette

We learned some of the terminology that is always used in professional world.

It's lunch time!
After a short lunch time, Suzette started a presentation with some fun color videos.

Students learn about the book “Drunk Tank Pink” by Adam Alter, which is about the psychology of color, how we behave and how color affects us.

An interesting example Suzette shared with the students was when a sports team painted the locker room of their opponents in pink, while their home team’s locker room was painted in an aggressive red.
This resulted in the home team being much more aggressive on the pitch than their opponents,
which led to victory for the home team!

Suzette talks about colors and how they are perceived based on a persons age. She also teaches students that they should treat lighter colors like they want it to explode and darker colors like they want it to melt.

Suzette talks about how to tell a story with a color.
She provided color samples provided by Michelle Travis, marketing manager at Merck EMD.
A perfect example of a color lives in a story.

What about with gold?
How would you tell a story with gold?
She also handed out Ding Zing samples to learn about different finishes.
Here goes Suzette's favourite material, Tiong Liong's Ariaprene!
She refers to as the most versatile and functional material EVER!
It is a high-performance, non-toxic synthetic rubber that is lightweight, waterproof,
more cost-effective than neoprene, super customisable and decomposable.

Done for today!
What a long day :)
